About Darius

Born and raised here on the Waiʻanae Coast, I understand firsthand the challenges our families face every day. Those challenges are not distant policy points for me, they are lived experiences that continue to ground the work I do. Since being elected to represent District 44, I have worked tirelessly to create intentional and lasting change that reflects the needs and voices of our community. My commitment remains to build a sustainable and attainable Hawaiʻi for your ʻohana, my ʻohana, and everyone who calls this coast home.

As one of seven children, my family and I have never owned a home. I know what it feels like to work hard and still struggle to find stability in the place you love. Those experiences shaped the leader and advocate I am today, fueling my fight for housing that local families can actually afford, safer roadways, stronger schools, and opportunities for keiki to thrive here at home.

I studied across the country at Lane College in Tennessee, Fullerton College in California, and Southern Oregon University. Those experiences opened my eyes to the world, but more importantly, reinforced my desire to return home and serve the community that raised me. After returning, I served as Community Liaison in the State Legislature and a member of the Nānākuli-Māʻili Neighborhood Board, working directly with families, schools, nonprofits, and agencies to address real issues on the ground.

Today, I reside in Māʻili and have the privilege of serving as the State Representative for District 44. I continue to listen, learn, and work alongside community members every day. The work is personal, it is ongoing, and it is rooted in aloha and kuleana.

I am here because of this community. I serve because of this community. And I will continue to fight for this community.
